Fortune (CJ)

Intermediate ripening cultivar, of Californian origin, obtained about 1985. A plant of medium vigour that starts producing early, with a good and constant  productivity. For these reasons and because of its good appearance it is thought to be the best option for the period from the beginning to the 20th of August.  Round fruit, slightly oblong, pink colour that becomes red with ripening.  Yellow flesh, not very juicy and medium tasting. The flesh detaches easily from the stone. More suitable for warm, temperate climates.

The development of the plants, the characteristics of the secondary branching and the quality of the union at the graft point are important parameters for judging the the quality of the nursery orchard product. Other factors to be considered very carefully include the healthiness of the propagation material, the certainty of the varietal identity, the control of the supply sources and the commercial potential of the reproduced clone.
