Currently the most widespread cultivar in Europe, successful because of its excellent storage properties in controlled atmospheres, its early fruit-bearing and its high and constant production. The tree is medium-low vigour but needs thorough renewal pruning, otherwise the fruit size and quality will suffer. Good affinity to the various types of quince, although the use of virus-free materials is always advisable. The fruit is medium or large size, with a greenish-yellow bronze coloured skin. The flesh is creamy-white with a melting texture and either sweet tasting or aromatic. In the ripe fruit, however, the flesh tends to collapse easily at the end of August and, because of the parthenocarpy or insufficient pollination, can sometimes have an irregular form. Harvested in the first ten days of September.

The development of the plants, the characteristics of the secondary branching and the quality of the union at the graft point are important parameters for judging the the quality of the nursery orchard product.
