Juglans regia

The walnut belongs to the juglandacee family, and one of the many species is the Juglans regia.  This walnut is used mainly as rootstock for different cultivar. The Juglans regia can reach a height of 20 metres, with a thick, straight trunk with brown bark up to 4-5 years which then becomes ash-coloured.  Juglans regia wood is highly valued; clear coloured when the plant is young and darker when it gets older.
