Cultivar obtained by by Prof. Bargioni at the Experimental Fruit Institute in Verona, Italy. Fairly strong development. Needs thorough pruning to obtain good fruit size. Starts producing early, bearing fruit that is dark red when ripe. Sensitive to cracking with rain near to harvest time.  The Ferrovia and the Durone nero I° and II°are good pollinators.  Also suitable for dense cherry orchards. Firm flesh, intense red colour. Ripens 15-20th of May.
