The land has to be properly levelled. This is generally quite an easy task in the plain, but a complex operation in the hills. Large-scale earth movements are best avoided, as they tend to bring to the surface virgin soil, where plants will have difficulty growing for several years.
In these situations it is better to heap the active soil layer in a corner of the plot and then re-spread it after levelling.
